soQuiet Code of Ethics

As a 501[c]3 tax-exempt organization, soQuiet [“Organization”] answers to the public. This means that Board members, employees, volunteers, partners, contractors, and others [collectively “collaborators”] affiliated with carrying out the Mission of soQuiet are required to behave in a manner that is ethical, legal, and responsible according to the highest of standards. 

 
  1. Collaborators model the Mission with honesty, equity, and integrity in service to the community. 

  2. Collaborators abide by the law, the Bylaws, and reasonable standards of professional conduct.

  3. Collaborators treat others as they would like to be treated: with unconditional dignity, empathy, and respect. soQuiet does not tolerate discrimination, aggression, or harassment.

  4. The Organization and its collaborators put inclusiveness and diversity at the heart of all of our activities. We all gain by lifting each other up. We advocate for those whose voices are unheard. Misophonia can be an isolating disorder, but together we are strong.

  5. Collaborators are accountable and transparent, promptly responding to mistakes and correcting them appropriately. We keep our side of the street clean. We do what we say. We play fair and strive to be impeccable with our words. We create content that is original and unique. We do not spread false information or place stock in speculation.

  6. Collaborators agree to the soQuiet Conflict of Interest Policy. Collaborators should never use their positions or knowledge gained within the organization for private advantage. We are of service to the public, not to our individual personal interests. Any possible conflict of interest should be promptly brought to the attention of the Board

  7. Collaborators must take care not to compromise the integrity or damage the reputation of the Organization, our collaborators and supporters, or any individual, business, or government body. 

  8. The Board promptly provides thorough reports to the public as required by law and proper nonprofit standards in a manner that is complete, clear, and truthful with proactive transparency. We live up to the trust of our donors and the public to be fiscally responsible and to be exemplary in all of our operations. The Organization regularly reviews its programs for aptness and effectiveness.

  9.  Collaborators keep all proprietary and personal information confidential and secure. Any information not disclosed on the Organization website [soquiet.org] should be considered confidential unless confirmed by the Board in writing.

  10. We remain neutral on potential treatments until their efficacy is supported by thorough and valid research.
