Laurie Heller is a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University. Her Auditory Lab conducts research on the perception of environmental sounds and its multimodal interactions (e.g. videos, words, gestures). She has conducted research on sound recognition in normal and hearing-impaired listeners, sound localization, misophonia, echolocation, machine learning, sound categorization, sound synthesis, virtual reality, auditory displays, noise-induced hearing loss, and effects of noise.
