Michelle Del Valle passed away from suicide at the age of 17 from dealing with Misophonia since she was 13 years old.

Michelle's family shared that, "Michelle was struggling with Misophonia for a long time, even with support from family and close friends, she struggled with part-time jobs not wanting to keep her due to being seen as a "distraction", doctors constantly dismissing and misdiagnosing her, and schools not properly accommodating her Misophonia, and others thinking that she's "faking" her pain when she is crying for answers and help every hour of the day, causing her to experience misery on a daily basis and thinking she was a burden to everyone she got close to with how severe the pain in her ears got due to Misophonia".

Michelle’s story is a sobering reminder of the overwhelming impact that misophonia can have on a person every day and how much we all must step up to raise awareness in society—especially with medical professionals and educators.

Let’s all honor Michelle’s memory by making sure nobody struggles so much with this misunderstood and complex disorder.
